Festival 2012 sees a return of last year’s more successful fringe events while also seeing a development of the comedy programme on offer.
Thursday 23rd August kicks off with the hugely popular " Tramps Ball Fancy dress 1920’s style You can either dress up to the nines or as if you were down to your last dime!! Then dance the night away to the very best in traditional and bohemian Irish music.
Friday 24th August We are thrilled to present to you on their comeback tour "The Nuala’s a zany and terrifically funny comedy and music trio, guaranteed to have you laughing in the aisles.
Saturday 25th August The gala awards ceremony has become a Gala Awards Show. Prepare to be thoroughly entertained in music, song and dance while paying tribute to this year’s nominees and Charlie recipients. Then dance into the small hours to the booming sound of Tuxedo Junction a fantastic 16 piece Swing Big Band.
We have matiness circus performances every day. Stand-up comedy in the local bars, up cycling clothes and makeup workshops, circus skills for children and the young at heart. The very best in Irish and International Street theatre_ Mime artists, magicians, puppeteers and even a mentalist or two!! These are just a taste of what Festival 2012 has to offer.

FilmsOnce again there will be an exciting programme of films jam packed with comedy from all throughout the history of cinema. We will be honouring the great legacy of Charlie himself with a collection of some of his greatest films.
One of Charlies great contemporaries will also be featured with a season of classic Buster Keaton films to a live musical score.
There will be a focus on some great American comedies from the Golden Age of Hollywood, The 1970’s. Central to the film programme will be our film competitions with "Charlie Awards given out for comedy Shorts for Irish filmmakers, International filmmakers, Film School Students and under 18’s.
There will also be a competition for films with a social commentary theme to remember the great social activist that was Charlie Chaplin. There will be a fantastic programme of events for Kids with some of the greatest ever Children’s movies playing for our younger audiences.
So whether you prefer the silent era classics, edgy 70’s dark humour or the modern take on the comedy genre there will truly be something for everyone. There will also be plenty talks, workshops, lectures etc with something to whet every appetite. Full details on the film programme will be announced throughout the summer.
